Filipinos Lead the World in AI Adoption at Work

A recent report by Microsoft reveals that the Philippines is at the forefront of artificial intelligence (AI) use in the workplace, with an impressive 86% of Filipino knowledge workers employing AI tools. This figure surpasses both the global average of 75% and the regional average of 83%. The report highlights that Filipino businesses are increasingly recognizing the importance of AI in enhancing productivity and efficiency, with many companies reporting significant returns on their investments within just over a year.

A recent study revealed that nearly half of Filipino workers, specifically 46%, utilize generative artificial intelligence (AI) in their jobs each month, surpassing the global average of 39%. Conducted by Jobstreet in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group, the research surveyed over 150,000 individuals worldwide, including more than 6,400 Filipinos. The findings indicate that younger employees, particularly those aged 18 to 24, are the most frequent users of AI, with 64% reporting regular use.

The surge in AI adoption is transforming various sectors in the Philippines, particularly finance, retail, and telecommunications. Microsoft Philippines CEO Peter Maquera emphasized that generative AI is enabling businesses to automate repetitive tasks and improve decision-making, allowing employees to focus on more impactful activities. Despite this progress, there are challenges as many Filipino workers are using their own AI solutions, which raises concerns about privacy and security.

As AI continues to evolve, there is a pressing need for local talent skilled in managing and developing these technologies.
