His remarks come as he embarks on his first official visit to the Philippines, which will extend until Tuesday.

Philippines-Cambodia Business Forum: Strengthening Economic Partnerships

On Monday, Hun Manet took part in the Philippines-Cambodia Business Forum held in Makati City, where he encouraged business leaders and investors from both nations to pursue deeper collaboration in key economic sectors. The Cambodian leader highlighted the mutual benefits of expanding bilateral trade and investment, particularly in industries that could boost economic growth and job creation in both countries.

Among the priority sectors identified for enhanced cooperation are:

Rice Trade and Agricultural Development – Cambodia, being a major rice producer, seeks to strengthen agricultural trade with the Philippines, which imports a significant portion of its rice supply. Discussions may explore trade agreements and supply chain improvements between the two nations.

Tourism and Cultural Exchange – With both countries boasting rich cultural heritage and booming tourism industries, Hun Manet emphasized the potential for joint tourism promotions, direct travel packages, and enhanced visitor exchange programs to boost arrivals in both Cambodia and the Philippines.

Air Connectivity – Improved air transport links between major cities in Cambodia and the Philippines could facilitate easier travel and logistics, benefiting both tourism and business operations. Enhancing direct flights and airline partnerships was a key topic during discussions.

Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) & Cambodia Chamber of Commerce – This agreement aims to foster stronger business collaborations, ease trade barriers, and encourage more investments between the private sectors of both nations.

Asia Europe University & World Citi Colleges – The educational partnership seeks to enhance academic exchanges, research collaborations, and skills training programs, benefiting students and faculty members from both institutions.
