Pop superstars Billie Eilish and Ariana Grande hinted at a possible musical collaboration during an interview at a 'Wicked' screening in Hollywood on Tuesday night. Eilish, a long-time admirer of Grande, led the conversation after the screening at the DGA Theater, where they discussed Grande's role as Glinda and her broader career. A clip of their conversation was later shared by Variety.
The possibility of a collaboration arose when Eilish playfully mentioned "songs" instead of "questions," causing excitement among the audience. Grande responded to the idea of working together by saying they "do need to do that though". While Grande mentioned they were "vocal resting for now," she didn't dismiss the possibility of a future duet.
Eilish also shared that she used to call Grande "Ari" to her brother before ever meeting her, showing her longtime admiration for the singer. Grande expressed that she was touched and "excited" to hear this.
Both Eilish and Grande have recently been nominated for Grammy Awards for collaborations. The rest of the evening was filled with mutual appreciation, with Eilish expressing her excitement about Grande's role in 'Wicked'.
The conversation also touched on Grande's commitment to live singing in 'Wicked' to ensure the emotional authenticity of the scene, allowing for improvisation and spontaneity in the performances.
