7 People on board after a madevac jet plane that crashed in philadelphia

Seven people have died, including one in a car on the ground, after a twin-engine medevac jet carrying a child patient and her mother crashed in a northeast Philadelphia neighborhood on Friday night, according to the mayor's statement on Saturday morning. At least 19 others were injured on the ground.

The six individuals aboard the plane were Mexican nationals, as confirmed by Mexico's president on Saturday morning.

"I mourn the loss of six Mexicans in the plane crash in Philadelphia, United States," said Claudia Sheinbaum. "The consular authorities are in constant communication with the families; I have instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to offer any necessary assistance. My condolences go out to their loved ones and friends."

The plane crash, located about 150 miles northeast of Washington, DC, occurred as authorities continue investigating Wednesday's fatal collision in the area. In that incident, an American Airlines regional jet with 64 people on board collided with a US Army Black Hawk helicopter carrying three soldiers over the Potomac River. All individuals are presumed dead.

The Learjet 55 crashed after departing from Northeast Philadelphia Airport, en route to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

Onboard were a pediatric patient and her mother, who were returning to Mexico after the child received treatment in Philadelphia. The girl had been treated for an illness at Shriners Children's Hospital in the city, as confirmed by local officials on Saturday.

The flight also carried four crew members—a pilot, co-pilot, paramedic, and doctor. The flight was scheduled to make a refueling stop at Springfield before continuing to its final destination in Tijuana, Mexico, according to Shai Gold, a spokesperson for the flight operator Jet Rescue Air Ambulance.
