BIR Breaks Records: E-Payment Collections Soar Past ₱2 Trillion

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is witnessing a remarkable shift as more taxpayers utilize its e-services, with e-payment collections surpassing ₱2 trillion last year. During the launch of the 2025 National Tax Campaign at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City, BIR officials revealed that from January to October, e-payment collections reached ₱2.06 trillion, accounting for about 85 percent of total collections for that period.

BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. highlighted the success of the agency's digital transformation, stating, “The BIR's digital transformation is proving successful, with an increasing number of users adopting our e-services, particularly online payments.”

Lumagui emphasized the significance of the 2025 National Tax Campaign, which aims to underscore the vital role of taxpayers in driving the country's economic recovery and development through timely and accurate tax payments.

“Taxes—often perceived as a burden—are essential for our society’s growth. They fund education, support healthcare, and maintain the infrastructure we depend on,” Lumagui noted. “Taxes represent investments in our future and the legacy we leave for the next generation.”

He also called for greater transparency and accountability within the tax system, stressing that every citizen should contribute fairly to national development. “This ensures an equitable distribution of the tax burden, leaving no one behind,” he added.

As the tax campaign unfolds, Lumagui urges everyone to commit to responsible tax practices. “Let’s embrace integrity and accountability as we strive for a more just society. Our contributions, regardless of size, play a crucial role in shaping our nation's future.” (PNA)
