Freedom vs. Uniformity: Should Students Have a Choice?

School uniforms have always been required to wear over the years, but in recent months, schools have relaxed their strict uniform policy. People, particularly students, are always debating whether or not uniforms should remain mandatory.

If the cons of wearing uniforms were to talk about, students may feel policed while wearing school uniforms, rather than being allowed to select clothes that suit their body types, they can suffer embarrassment at school. Child and teen development specialist Robyn Silverman told NBC News that students, especially girls, tend to compare how each other

The Downsides of Strict Uniform Policies

Overemphasizing uniform policy through extensive policing and student punishment can be very offensive. It can make students feel judged for their physical appearance, which can hurt their self-esteem. Students may become very uncomfortable at some point during an academic session due to differing weather conditions. We all know that each season necessitates a different type of dressing. People, for example, wear light clothing in the summer to avoid overheating. As a result, students to wear the same type requiring students to the same type of clothing all year can be very uncomfortable and lead to insufficient learning.

Public schools hinder the promise of free education by imposing an extra expense on families for uniforms. Most low-income families may struggle to cover the cost of a school uniform, especially when there's an exclusive agreement between schools and less expensive suppliers. Buying regular clothes in this situation is better than paying for school uniforms. That is not fair to the children who want to attend school and receive a good education but are unable to do so due to the high cost of uniforms.

Everyone in the world is unique and forcing people to dress the same prevents them from expressing themselves as freely as they would like. It is reasonable for schools to have dress codes, but telling students they must all dress the same is absurd. Every parent wants their kids naturally to develop the ability to express themselves. If students are not themselves from a tender age.

Expression and Individuality in Schools

If students are not allowed to express their individuality through their clothing, they may develop a sense of confusion and belittlement, which can jeopardize their whole development. Schools should remain committed to helping students achieve academic success as well as rise. their self-esteem by supporting non-uniform clothing options. Focusing on uniforms takes attention away from finding genuine solutions to problems in education.

Wearing school uniforms has a variety of negative emotional and psychological effects on students. Disadvantages such as lack of freedom of expression, additional expense, and decreased comfort. Students should be permitted to wear whatever they prefer to school because it helps make them more confident, comfortable, and delighted to participate instead of attempting to avoid having to drop out due to uniforms. I'm completely committed to the idea that wearing school uniforms has just as many, if not more,  disadvantages.
