Butler’s Return to Miami
The Heat paid tribute to Butler’s 5½ seasons with a pregame video, acknowledging his contributions to the franchise. While some fans cheered, many booed him every time he touched the ball. Butler waved to the crowd during introductions but seemed unbothered by the mixed reception.
“I got a lot of love for this city, for the fanbase here,” Butler said postgame. “The video was nice. I won’t say there was a lot of emotions, though.”
Despite scoring Golden State’s first basket, Butler struggled to make an impact. After the final buzzer, he briefly greeted friends before heading to the locker room.
The Warriors now have a day off in Miami before traveling to New Orleans, giving Butler a chance to spend time with his family in South Florida.
“This one’s over with,” Butler said. “Put it behind us, go eat some food and enjoy the sunshine tomorrow.”
