Marcos Jr. Marcos expressed gratitude, emphasizing that the act reflects humanitarian values and strengthens Philippines-UAE relations. Similar pardons were granted last year, benefiting over 360 Filipinos. The UAE Embassy in Manila has asked for assistance in relaying the names of those pardoned. The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) highlighted the pardon’s significance in reuniting families and reaffirming diplomatic ties.

The UAE Embassy in Manila formally informed the Philippine government of the royal pardon through the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
A Symbol of Strong Bilateral Ties
Marcos emphasized that the gesture reflects the humanitarian values of the UAE and strengthens the Philippines-UAE partnership. He recalled that similar pardons were granted last year, including 143 Filipinos during Eid al-Adha and 220 during UAE’s National Day in December.
With nearly one million Filipinos living in the UAE, Marcos highlighted the importance of fostering strong diplomatic relations.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) stated that the pardon brings relief to families who have been separated for years and underscores the UAE’s respect for President Marcos. The UAE Embassy in Manila has requested assistance in relaying the names of the pardoned individuals.
