Jalen Green Wears Kevin Quiambao’s Signature Shoes on NBA’s Filipino Heritage Night
Jalen Green Pays Tribute to Filipino Basketball Star Kevin Quiambao with Custom Sneakers on Filipino Heritage Night
HOUSTON, Texas – Filipino-American NBA rising star Jalen Green made a powerful cultural statement during the NBA’s annual Filipino Heritage Night by wearing a special pair of sneakers honoring one of the Philippines’ rising basketball talents.
During the Houston Rockets’ dominant 143-105 victory over the Utah Jazz at Toyota Center on Thursday (Manila time), Green hit the court in the unreleased adidas KQ x Quiccs AdiZero Select 3.0—signature shoes designed for Filipino basketball standout Kevin Quiambao. The game was held in front of 18,055 fans and marked a significant win, locking the Rockets into at least a top-six spot in the Western Conference playoffs with a 50-27 record.
“Some heat for tonight,” Green shared on Instagram, featuring a snapshot of the custom sneakers made for Quiambao, who currently plays for the Goyang Sono Skygunners in the Korean Basketball League. The shoe collaboration, still unreleased to the public, is already generating buzz thanks to Green’s endorsement on a global stage.
Jalen Green, the Rockets' 2021 first-round pick, continues to embrace his Filipino roots both on and off the court. In Thursday’s game, he contributed 22 points, four rebounds, two assists, and one steal in just 28 minutes of play.
Quiambao, a former La Salle standout in the Philippines, has been making waves in international basketball and recently teased his own signature shoe. Thanks to Green’s nod, the footwear—and Quiambao himself—are now getting the international spotlight.
Next up, Jalen Green and the Houston Rockets are set to face the powerhouse Oklahoma City Thunder at home on Saturday.
