Kianna Dy Makes Comeback from Injury as PLDT Triumphs Over Cignal in PVL Match

Kianna Dy made her long-awaited return to the court after more than two years, as PLDT narrowly defeated Cignal in a hard-fought match in the PVL All-Filipino Conference. The High Speed Hitters won 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22 on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.

Dy's comeback followed a knee injury sustained in July 2023, and she was inserted late in the fourth set when PLDT had built a commanding 16-7 lead. However, Cignal capitalized on PLDT's bench players, going on a 5-1 run led by Vanie Gandler, Jackie Acuña, and Roselyn Doria, narrowing the gap to 20-17. Ishie Lalongisip added back-to-back points, bringing Cignal to within three, and Doria’s ace made it 21-19. Lalongisip’s ace then made it a one-point game at 22-21, but Majoy Baron and Savi Davison sealed the match for PLDT, with Davison securing the game-winning point at 24-21.

Davison led PLDT with a triple-double performance of 24 points, 12 digs, and 10 receptions. Erika Santos and Baron contributed 15 and 10 points, respectively. For Cignal, Gandler had 22 points, followed by Acuña with 14 and Lalongisip with 12. PLDT improved to 5-3, while Cignal dropped to 5-2.
