NWRB is anticipated to decrease water allotment for concessionaires and MWSS by mid-May

The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System's concessionaires, Maynilad and Manila Water, are expected to receive a reduced allocation from the National Water Resources Board starting on May 16 until the rains replace the water in Angat Dam.

Department of Natural Resources and the Environment. According to NWRB head Carlos Primo David's projections, the Angat Water level is expected to reach the minimum operating level of 180 meters by May 20 or 21.

According to David, Angat's water supply needs to be extended because the rainy season will be delayed and there may be less rain when El Nino turns into La Nina.

However, David guarantees customers that even with a 49 cubic meter per second allotment, there won't be any water outages.

According to David, local government organizations would receive an order from the Department of Interior and Local Government directing them to ensure that barangay residents do not utilize water carelessly.

San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, the head of the Metro Manila Council, stated that although he has not yet received an official memo, the mayors will review it and carry out the DILG directive.

According to MWSS Spokesman Patrick Dizon, there won't be any water outages even if the allotment is lowered to 49 cms since the National Irrigation Administration has consented to lend the concessionaires 2 cms of its allocation.

Manila Water stated that the organization must first evaluate the circumstances before responding to inquiries on the 49 cms allotment.

"As per our water supply operations team we will continue to assess until early next week the supply vs. demand before we come up with the final supply scheme at 49 CMS allocation. As of now, pressure reduction may extend to a larger portion of the East Zone during off-peak hours, according to Manila Water spokesperson Ditti Galang.

Regarding the decreased allotment beginning on May 16, Maynilad has not yet released a comment.
