SC Upholds Conviction of Australian for Chaining, Exploiting Minors
The Supreme Court has upheld the life sentence of an Australian national convicted of chaining and exploiting two minors in the Philippines. The ruling reinforces the country’s strong stance against human trafficking and child abuse.

MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court (SC) has affirmed the conviction of an Australian national found guilty of chaining and exploiting two minors in the Philippines.
The Australian, whose name was withheld, was sentenced to life imprisonment for violating the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act and the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
The case stemmed from a police raid in 2018, where authorities rescued two minors who had been subjected to inhumane treatment. Evidence presented in court included photos and videos showing the victims restrained by chains and forced into exploitative acts.
The SC upheld the lower court’s ruling, citing strong evidence that the accused engaged in child exploitation and human trafficking. The ruling serves as a warning against crimes involving minors and reinforces the Philippine government’s commitment to protecting children from abuse and exploitation.
