'The Night Agent' Season 3: Lead Star Reveals "Insane" Stunts Netflix Approved, First Episode Already Filmed

Filmmakers are already working hard on the impending third season of The Night Agent, even though season two hasn't even been published yet.

The political thriller was renewed for two more seasons after its immediate success at Netflix, where it became the streamer's most watched series of 2023 and one of their most popular shows ever. This may come as a surprise considering Netflix's history of canceling TV series.

In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Gabriel Basso, who plays agent Peter Sutherland, hinted that The Night Agent season 3 will be "fantastic," so fans are in for a treat.

Basso went on to say that the first episode of the third season is already finished and that, in addition to having stunts he finds unbelievable, it is the "strongest opening of all seasons"—a claim that is undoubtedly accurate considering how amazing the first two have been.

As Basso reveals: "I'm not really excited about this business, and I don't love acting, but I think the crew down in Istanbul were amazing. The stuff we were able to get on camera that was unplanned was nuts. I do some stunts in there that I can't believe Netflix approved of."

Although not much is known about season 3, Basso, who starred in The Night Agent, indicated that the season 2 conclusion will give an indication as to the path of the third season. He guarantees viewers that the plots of season 2 will be resolved while posing fresh queries, rather than leaving them on an annoying cliffhanger. Season 3 will carry over the narrative of the second season's presidential election. A narrative involving Iran was among the unexpected real-world connections that Basso noticed, making him playfully wonder whether the authors have some uncanny insight.

In addition to continuing to monitor the presidential race, Basso hints that characters in The Night Agent season three will also have to deal with the fallout from their deeds in season two. Giving away more would be giving away too much, but Basso is correct that this is a recurring motif in all of The Night Agent's seasons, which makes it more realistic and makes it unique among thrillers.

He ends by saying: "I love that there are consequences. Characters in these kinds of shows and films often make decisions that have no real repercussions, and you're like, 'Dude, you just betrayed your country. How are they just okay with you doing this?'"

"It's main character syndrome, the writers are aware of how popular the main character is and there's plot armor and all that stuff. I think this show is refreshing in the sense that Peter never feels insulated from consequence. And I think season 3 is a really good example of that, and so is season 2."
