US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will visit the Philippines next week to strengthen security ties and regional cooperation. His trip includes meetings with Philippine leaders and military forces to advance shared Indo-Pacific security objectives. Before Manila, he will visit Hawaii and Guam for military briefings, and after, he will travel to Japan for the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima.
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is set to visit the Philippines next week to strengthen alliances and security cooperation, according to the US Department of Defense.
Before arriving in Manila, Hegseth will travel to Hawaii to meet with US Indo-Pacific Command officials and then to Guam to tour military facilities. During his Philippine visit, he will engage with local leaders and military forces to advance shared security objectives in the Indo-Pacific.
Following his visit to the Philippines, Hegseth will proceed to Japan to participate in the 80th anniversary commemoration of the Battle of Iwo Jima.
