Wyze introduces new camera filter to reduce false alerts.

Wyze has introduced the "No Big Deal" (NBD) AI filter to reduce unnecessary security camera alerts, notifying users only about important events like break-ins or emergencies. Available for Cam Unlimited Pro subscribers, the feature ranks detected motions on a scale of 1 to 5, filtering out routine activities while still storing all recordings in the app. While Wyze leads in AI-powered event filtering, concerns remain about potentially missing user-preferred alerts.

Wyze has launched the "No Big Deal" (NBD) AI filter, designed to reduce unnecessary security camera alerts and notify users only about critical events. This feature is now available to Cam Unlimited Pro subscribers for $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year.

How the NBD Filter Works

Wyze's AI-powered system ranks detected events on a scale of 1 to 5:

  • Score 1 – Routine activities (e.g., a robot vacuum cleaning, passing cars).

  • Score 3 – Possibly important events (e.g., package delivery, baby crying).

  • Score 5 – Critical situations (e.g., glass breaking, gunshots, an unknown person near the door).

Only high-ranking alerts will notify users, though all recordings are stored in the app.

AI-Powered Security Upgrades

The NBD Filter builds on Wyze's Descriptive Alerts, which launched earlier this year and provide detailed event descriptions rather than generic motion alerts. Wyze also introduced AI-powered search last year, allowing users to find recorded footage via keywords.

Industry Trends & User Concerns

Other security brands like Ring, Google Nest, and Arlo have recently integrated AI-powered features, but Wyze is the first to introduce an event filtering system. While reducing notification fatigue is beneficial, there are concerns about AI missing important events that users may still want to track.
