Five Chinese nationals linked to the now-banned Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) industry were arrested at Zamboanga International Airport (ZIA) upon arrival from Tawi-Tawi.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) identified the suspects as Ying Guanzhen, Yang Jinlong, Liu Xin, Shen Kan, and Luo Honglin, all of whom were blacklisted for violating the terms of their stay. Two of them were fugitives wanted in China, while all five were previously associated with Lucky South 99, a POGO firm raided for illegal activities.
The arrests were made after authorities intercepted their attempt to flee to Sabah, Malaysia, using a "transporter"—an individual facilitating illegal cross-border travel. BI Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado confirmed that the suspects have been handed over to the Philippine National Police (PNP) pending an investigation by the BI Legal Division
