DepEd gave the NCR mayors the power to change class schedules.
NCR mayors can now change class schedules.
Metro Manila mayors and the School Division superintendents of DepEd have been allowed to change the school class schedules, according to Metro Manila Council President Francis Zamora on Friday.
At a press conference, Zamora stated in Filipino, "Based on our conversation with a DepEd official, city mayors and division authorities will have the authority to determine shifts in class schedules when it comes to the suspension of classes."
Zamora also added that the suspension will also depend on the number of students and schools the town has.
In a statement released on April 4, the Department of Education also granted school administrators the power to halt instruction in the event of excessive heat.
