How to Train Your Dragon Live-Action Teaser Soars: Hiccup and Toothless Return in Super Bowl First Look

Universal unveiled the full trailer for the live-action remake of DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon during the Super Bowl. The trailer offers an emotional look at the reimagined story, which follows Hiccup (Mason Thames) and his unlikely friendship with Toothless, a rare Night Fury dragon. Set on the Isle of Berk, where vikings and dragons are sworn enemies, Hiccup’s decision to befriend a dragon changes everything.

The trailer highlights their first meeting, with Hiccup reaching out to touch Toothless, building trust between them. “I’m the first viking who wouldn’t kill a dragon,” Hiccup says. Soon after, the pair soar over cliffs and oceans, dodging battles and exploring new horizons together.

Directed by Dean DeBlois, who also led the original trilogy, the film adapts Cressida Cowell’s bestselling books. The original animated series grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide and earned four Oscar nominations. The cast includes Nico Parker as Astrid, Nick Frost as Gobber, Julian Dennison, Bronwyn James, Ruth Codd, and Gerard Butler, who returns as Stoick.

Produced by Marc Platt (La La Land), the film was shot with IMAX cameras for a larger-than-life experience. How to Train Your Dragon hits theaters on June 13, 2025.
